A Journey to Empower Students: A HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

As an ELD student, I spent countless afternoons at the kitchen table, wrestling with math homework, English essays, and reading comprehension—all alone. Algebra problems frustrated me, poetry felt like riddles, and more than anything, I longed for someone to sit beside me—to guide me, encourage me, and remind me I wasn’t alone.

That longing never left me. In high school, I began tutoring younger students, and I saw my younger self in their struggles. The moment their eyes lit up with understanding, the pride in their voices when they succeeded—I knew this was about more than just academics. It was about believing in their potential before they could see it themselves, helping them build confidence and a growth mindset.

I pursued a degree in Biochemistry at Cal State Fullerton and earned a single-subject teaching credential in science. Teaching middle school was fulfilling, but I saw a greater need—a space beyond the classroom where students could thrive, a place where they felt truly seen, supported, and empowered to excel in school and life.

The Birth of School-Connection: A Transformational Learning Experience

In 1999, I took a leap of faith and founded School-Connection. More than a tutoring center, it became a home away from home, where students didn’t just complete homework assignments—they mastered essential academic skills, built resilience, and developed strong study habits.

Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of guiding thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to top universities like UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, Rice University, UC Irvine, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, and USC. Just to name a few… They have become doctors, lawyers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders, carrying with them the academic foundation and life skills they built at School-Connection.

Inspiring Confidence & Success

My teaching superpower? I know when students are ready to learn and when they need encouragement. Beyond academics, I aim to inspire, empower, and instill self-belief in every child I work with.

If I could teach just one lesson, it would be this: Believe in yourself. You have the power to shape your own reality.  Witnessing that belief take root and flourish in my students is the most rewarding part of my journey—seeing them grow in confidence, embrace challenges, and step into their future with purpose and determination.

Teaching isn’t just my profession—it’s my calling. Through School-Connection, I am honored to walk alongside students on their journeys, guiding them as they transform their dreams into reality with courage, discipline, and resilience.

At School-Connection, we are dedicated to providing exceptional after-school programs and enrichment classes designed for students ages 5-13. Our mission is to create a supportive, engaging, and academically enriching environment where every child can thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. 

As parents and educators, we understand the profound impact a nurturing and structured learning experience has on a child’s future. That’s why we prioritize strong partnerships with families, fostering a community where each student feels valued, confident, and empowered to reach their full potential. 

Our approach goes beyond academics. We see every homework assignment, project, and assessment as an opportunity for growth, resilience, and discovery. Through personalized instruction, mentorship, and character-building, we instill strong study habits, a positive work ethic, and essential life skills that will benefit our students far beyond the classroom.
