Growing up as a latchkey child, Denny often completed her homework after school by herself. With both parents working full-time, she faced the challenge of struggling through difficult assignments alone. Whenever she encountered a tough algebra equation or needed help understanding a poetry assignment, Denny wished for support.
After becoming a teacher, Denny found joy in working with middle school students. However, her heart broke seeing many of them struggle academically due to poor after-school study habits. The desire to help these students grew stronger, and she realized she wanted to create a supportive environment for learners like herself.
After three years of teaching, Denny decided to pursue her dream. In 1999, she left her steady teaching position to build an innovative academic mastermind program, and that’s when School-Connection was born.
School-Connection isn’t just an after-school program; it’s a home away from home where students receive the academic and emotional support they need to succeed. Thanks to Denny’s Academic MasterMind Program, children no longer have to struggle alone with their homework.
